Backup or export your user certificate on a Mac computer.
This procedure provides a way to export and store user certificate(s) in PKCS12 format.
Export certificate.
To backup your personal certificate:
- Open the Keychain Access, then select the certificate you want to export from the My Certificates
category.
- From the File menu, select Export Items.
- Select a file name and make sure that the p12 format is selected.
- Select a password for the exported file. This password will be necessary to import back the certificate.
- Provide an administrator password to authorize the operation.
Import certificate.
To import your personal certificate:
- Open the Keychain Access.
- From the File menu, select Import Items.
- Select the p12 file you exported at the previous step.
- Type the password for the certificate file. This is the password you entered when exporting the file.
- The imported certificate is now in your keychain, under the My Certificates
category.
